Johns riding with Scot to show him the route out of Pittsburgh. Scot
and John didnt start riding until 1pm and John has to be back at his house by 4pm so
he can only ride so far. Scot rode across Route 22/30 and camped at Raccoon Creek State
Park. The park was 6 miles from the main rode was mostly uphill so hes extremely
tired. He wanted to camp by the swimming area but the ranger asked him to move. He was not
happy with the reception so he again didnt pay the camping fees. A phone is nearby
so he was able to call me conveniently.

Its another uphill ride to Steubenville, OH. Scot crossed a part of
West Virginia to reach Steubenville. More uphill riding to Cadiz. Scot is more tired. The

lunch at an abandoned farm. Camped somewhere in Cadiz.

Scot thinks he stuffed himself too much with bread yesterday. Hes
not as tired today. Somebody in town asked him to stop at the Jeffersonian to have his
picture taken for the local paper. At Cambridge, Scot stayed at the Frisbee Hotel run by
Indians (not Native Americans). The helped him prepare dinner. Being vegetarians, the
children asked what salmon was. He also did laundry in this town.
"I have only camped "Hobo style" one time, the camping
along the C&O was a real blessing. Its difficult to find camping in Ohio and Indiana
west of here, and I'll go broke If I stay in hotels. The Frisbee Hotel, here in Cambridge,
however, is competitive with the $16 campground. "
He got to talk to his friend Jeff Frontz in Dayton who suggested he visit
the Mound Builders Memorial in Newark. He also suggested route 40 across OH instead of
route 22 because it is a more direct route. He and Kurt K. from Cincinnati will rendezvous
in Dayton on Saturday.

Cool pic of Bike in Black Hand Gorge, Ohio. Dolly Sez "too bad bike is so
small!" Yeah, well, next time I'm there?
By 4:30pm, Scot had arrived Newark. He visited the Mound Builders
Memorial. He then proceeded to Granville to find camping. He decided to rest on
somebodys lawn. They let him camp there for the night. Mary Kay (82 years old) and
Harry entertained him with WWII stories. He will be taking a "vacation" in
Columbus where he expects to meet with Jeff Frontz.
"The only really sore part of me is my thighs and where they attach
to my kneecap. The bike is holding up ok, but a bigger wheel would be nice."

From Granville, Scot went to Alexandria, then to Johnstown then southbound
on route 62 to Columbus. Hes staying with Jeff Frontz. He plans to leave Columbus
for Dayton on Saturday. It will be easier to deal with the city traffic. He finished his
first roll of film and his 90 minute tape.
