This teapot would have been my best piece from the ceramics course I took in spring 1998, had there not been a kiln disaster. Apparently a shelf broke during the glaze firing. The stilts holding up two other shelves collapsed, sending three shelves of work tumbling down. Several pieces were broken including the lid of this teapot (rotate it to see the other side). Something (glaze? clay?) melted and got stuck to quite a few pieces, including this teapot. Note the kucky stuff stuck to the bottom of the teapot.

Although the teapot was ruined, I still like the way it turned out. With the exception of the broken lid and the kucky stuff, its shape and color are exactly as I had planned.
