Lardintown
Reverse
A Team Caffeine Bike Ride
55 miles
One of the best rides of the 2001 season.
A total of 2500 feet of climbing in 55 miles, this ride
combines fast, flat terrain with some of the prettiest rolling country roads of Allegheny
and Butler Counties.
The Lardintown ride starts with a level ride up Freeport Rd
to Tarentum. Then we follow roads parallelling Bull Creek and Lardintown Run to
climb slowly out of the Allegheny valley to Route 228, gaining 550 ft of elevation in 10
miles -- an average 1% grade.
We stop at the Ekastown Sheetz for snacks and restrooms.
Rolling terrain in southern Butler County takes us to
Middle Rd Extension. Then we fly down one of our favorite descents on Middle Rd to
get back home.
Jerry Kraynick says we go the wrong direction on Lardintown
Rd. Maybe we'll try it his way one of these days.
